To date, 5,400 BOOMBox Family Activity Kits have been distributed to expecting parents and children through high school, with age-appropriate books, and supplies with instructions in each box. BOOMBoxes are creative activity kits containing fun educational materials along with community resource information and supplies to learn as a family and connect as a community, especially during the 2020 pandemic year.
They contain several STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) activity bags and books on such topics as mental health, self-care, financial literacy and personal goal setting, family history and fun outdoor activities among many others. They went to eight distribution sites scattered across Doña Ana County with the help of CAASNM staff and volunteers, and were given out in drive-through distributions.
BOOMBoxes were a joint effort of the CAASNM Kids Can Youth Entrepreneur Program, CAASNM Thriving Kids Home Visiting, the SUCCESS Partnership, Ngage New Mexico and the Gadsden and Doña Ana County Early Childhood Coalitions.
