Position Title: Family Empowerment Coordinator
Supervised by: Family Empowerment Director
Position Summary: Full-time position. Trains participants on basic computer skills and financial education throughout Southern New Mexico. Uses developed and innovative curriculum to impart entertaining and effective classes at several public locations. Assists with the operations of Individual Development Accounts (IDA), Children Savings Accounts (CSA), Free Tax Preparation, Small Business Development programs and Financial Education. Assists with strategic planning, design, and development of company-wide evaluation strategy and data collection and reporting to funders and management as required.
License Requirements: Valid NM Class D driver’s license required (or equivalent). Must be insurable.
Education: Associate’s degree in a business related field or two (2) years of verifiable experience in the Non-profit or Customer Service arena.
Travel: Up to 15% but varies based on business needs. Luna, Hidalgo, Sierra, and Grant County.
Experience: Two (2) years of hands-on experience in providing customer service and managing client accounts for a nonprofit, City, County, or State funded program. Vast knowledge of financial literacy and computer related applications and trends. Bilingual – English and Spanish preferred. Teaching outside traditional and institutional settings is a plus.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to be self-starting and self-motivated, with general supervision from the Family Empowerment Director; ability to work with high and low income groups of people and from different cultural backgrounds; strong written and oral skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office; capability of conveying information to different audiences in a simple manner; strong computer skills on Windows-based systems and web-based applications. High knowledge of web trends such as long-distance learning and internet related activities (TEAMS, Zoom, GoToMeeting, etc.). Ability to navigate internet sites and to operate web-based applications; capable of creating basic Excel/Word reports and Power Point/Publisher presentations; knowledge of basic financial operations such as percentages, amortization, and interest.
Job Description: Works closely with the Family Empowerment Director to meet funding sources’ requirements and regulations. Trains participants on basic computer skills, financial education and long distance learning. Organizes, schedules and markets computer and financial literacy classes at participating public places. Meets the demand for off-hours and weekend classes at the different participating locations throughout Southern New Mexico. Creates and submits required reports to management and funders on a timely basis. Follows pre-developed curriculum as the basis for all classes. Modifies and creates marketing materials. Works closely with librarians, other non-profits and county personnel in a professional manner. Performs other duties as requested with minimum oversight from management. Assists with the management of IDAs throughout Southern New Mexico. Works closely with other internal and external programs to increase benefits for IDA participants. Works with funders and subcontractors. Keeps track of all IDA accounts on a daily basis and maintain IDA files up-to-date. Organizes and teaches financial literacy classes to participants. Keeps web-based programs updated with participant data and knows the IDA process from beginning to end. Creates reports for funders, Family Empowerment Director, and CAASNM management as required. Advises participants on basic business questions or refer to appropriate department or outside agency. Provides technical assistance and consulting services to small business owners as needed. Performs other duties as requested with minimal supervision.
